How to sign in to Skyworld IMS (with the 6-digit security code)

Article number: SW-KB-0001 Applies to: All users Last modified: 13 Oct 2026
Summary
Sign in with your username or email and password. Every account also uses a 6-digit security code from an authenticator app on your phone (this is called MFA — multi-factor authentication — an extra lock so a stolen password alone is not enough).
Before you begin
You will need:
  • Your username and temporary password from the academy office.
  • A smartphone with Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator installed (free).
Instructions
Sign in for the first time
  1. Open the IMS address in your browser and enter your Username or Email and Password, then click Sign In.
  2. A QR code (square barcode) appears. In the authenticator app tap + / Add account and scan it.
  3. The app now shows a 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds. Type the current code and confirm.
  4. Enter a fresh code once more when asked. You are now signed in.
  5. Change the temporary password: menu Change Password.
Every later sign-in
  1. Enter your username/email and password and click Sign In.
  2. Open the authenticator app and type the 6-digit code shown for Skyworld IMS.
Tick Keep me signed in only on your own device, never on a shared office computer.
Troubleshooting
SymptomCauseResolution
“Invalid MFA token”The code expired or the phone clock is wrong.Wait for a new code and type it straight away. On the phone, set date & time to automatic.
“Invalid credentials or account locked”5 wrong passwords in a row lock the account for 30 minutes.Wait 30 minutes and try again, or ask the super admin to check your account.
“Account is inactive”The account was deactivated.Contact the super admin (Admin → Users).
“Your account is suspended”Students only: the academy suspended the student record.Contact the academy office.
New phone / lost phoneThe authenticator code is stored on the old phone.Tell the super admin. The IT administrator resets it on the server (admin_tools.py reset-mfa), then you scan a new QR code at your next sign-in.
